Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to pile up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck comes in several models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular version has telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular model is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and can increase production while maximizing available storage space.
