During 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. At that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to raise and lower the hoist. This device greatly impressed a lot of customers and thus, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into various new markets, since the demand for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, when the demand for new machinery to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in numerous new markets. For example, Genie went into manufacturing articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, stick booms and telehandlers.
Due to the economic slump during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who held the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers throughout the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the initial years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Hence, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
Genie takes pride in listening to their clients. The company is dedicated to continually improving quality and efficiency and is also dedicated to lessening waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
The DC and Bi-Energy equipment offered by Genie provide emission-free, quiet operation even in the most delicate work environments. Where the machinery must be driven significant distances, such as within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator along with the benefits of a 48V DC machine.
Telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach, as opposed to any of the various aerial platforms. These machinery are ideal for limited access areas or small areas in all kinds of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machinery deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you need in order to travel around the work site and job area.
