Kinds of Man Lifts
Designed specifically to vertically lift workers to higher places, scissor lifts are common in the construction industry to help transport or raise personnel form one place to another. Man lifts are power-driven and provide steps or platforms and special handholds to provide safe transport. The kind of construction work being performed will decide exactly what kind of man lift would be utilized in a project.
Electrically Insulated Man Lifts
Electrically insulated man lifts are a type of lift that is preferred for working in close proximity to electrocution hazards, according to Man and Material Lift Engineering. The electrically insulated man lifts provide protection to personnel against accidental electrocution. These machines follow the American National Standards Institute A92.2 Category C, 46kV Rated. These electrically insulated man lifts offer fiberglass insulated booms, are operated on nonconductive hydraulic hoses that serve to reduce ground error and fiber optic control cables.
Scissor Lifts
The scissor lift is a unique machine capable of transporting personnel vertically to difficult-to-reach places. The scissor lift derived its name because of the scissor type of design of the folding supports that can lower and raise the platform. To be able to hoist the lift, every one of the folding supports is opened so as to extend the platform to higher heights.
Scissor lifts could be either hydraulically or manually lifted. Hydraulic systems allow the scissor lifts to descend with only a release of hydraulic pressure, rather than depending on power. Because the possibility of mechanical malfunctions preventing the platform from abruptly descending to the ground is eliminated, at the end of the day, hydraulic systems make safer scissor lifts.
Capacity
The man lift has a large range of weight capacities, with some man lifts capable of holding many people, while some models can only hold a single individual. Scissor lifts and platform lifts are more beneficial for transporting many people, as boom lifts have less space located in their bucket.
