Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
More than 200 deaths each year within North America are a result of forklifts, or lift trucks. Proper maintenance and inspection of forklift tires can help to lessen the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Check
The tires on the lift truck should be inspected at the start of each shift, checked for indications of wear and damage. The air pressure in the tires should be checked to ensure the pressure is not very low. Low tire pressure can make the machine susceptible to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Kinds of Tires
The tire type of the forklift will be based upon the type of floor surface which the lift truck will operate on. Solid rubber tires are great for indoor application. For surfaces which are smooth, tires are normally smaller. Larger pneumatic tires are best for lift trucks for outdoor use. Pneumatic tires can grip rough surfaces well since they are air-filled and have a rubber tread.

Other factors
According to Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines, all lift trucks require some continual daily and some periodic inspection that is performed every shift. The tires should be inspected once more for any sign of damage, like wear or cuts.

Lift truck Safety
Forklift safety is important for any employer or employee utilizing a forklift since forklift accidents can be serious causing personal injuries and even death. Even minor mishaps can cost your business money if the goods or the forklift are damaged in an accident. Be sure you really know a lot about issues involved in lift truck safety.
